What is hypnosis – The hypnotic state is a perfectly natural state of mind and most people are not even aware they have been in a state of hypnosis, for example, how often have you arrived at your destination by car without even realising how you arrived there. This is because when you perform actions you are familiar with, your conscious mind drifts off to a ‘daydream ‘ state allowing your sub-conscious mind to take over. If nothing happens to bring your attention back to the fore, such as changing lanes, you will find you have arrived at your destination without even knowing how you got there. Whenever you do anything automatically, your conscious mind is diverted from your subconscious putting you into a mild hypnotic trance. It cannot make you do anything that you do not want to do or that you morally object to. You cannot get stuck in hypnosis and can leave the state whenever you wish to.
In therapy, along with the input of a properly trained and confident therapist, hypnosis involves the person experiencing a sense of deep relaxation with their attention narrowed down and focused on appropriate suggestions. Hypnosis can be used to make life changing styles e.g. a person can become more confident or motivated and learn to deal with stress better.
A reputable practitioner will always work within the Code of Ethics and will always ensure there are no contraindications before commencing any sessions with a new client. A contraindication is a condition or factor that increases the risks involved in using a particular drug, carrying out a medical procedure or engaging in a particular activity (i.e. hypnotherapy)
EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) - Remove negative emotions from memories in your head that influence your state of well being from moment to moment. Allowing freedom of the mind from subconscious issues which you may be totally unaware of but have carried as excess baggage. This is achieved by tapping on various acupuncture points whilst talking through the issue. TRY IT ON EVERYTHING
EMDR (Eyes Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) - Using eye movement to access the pathways between memories and the processing parts of the brain, allowing the brain to evaluate the memory and take what it needs to learn from that memory to a state of resolution and good mental health
Hypnotherapy - Hypnosis allows you to move to different levels of awareness, giving you a great feeling of relaxation and well being. Allows communication with your subconscious mind and allows positive changes to be made in your mental, emotional and physical state.
